My Anal Fistula Experience
While I have been neglecting this site I am pleased to let you know that since recovering from my anal fistula everything has been just fine. There is a scar, and it gets irritated sometimes when I eat spicy food, but I’m happy and pain free.
I’ve just checked the stats for this site and I was surprised to see that there are up to 100 unique hits to this site each day. This pleases me greatly. When I created this blog it was because I had personally found that there were not enough first hand accounts from people dealing with anal fistulas online, and I hoped my story could be helpful and comforting to people.
It didn’t take long before other users found the site and posted their own stories. Everyone who has done this deserves a big pat on the back. We have all helped each other and I think we can be proud of that.
I also feel guilt, because I know that the comments section on a blog is not ideal for this sharing of experiences and discussion, and in my failure to act, I have restricted further growth of this community. Today, thanks to Reddit, that will change.
If you’ve never used Reddit, it’s essentially a place to share stories (or links to stories, pictures, etc) with other users, and it allows users to vote on and participate in discussions over those stories.
I’ve created The Anal Fistula Reddit and I strongly urge all of you to start posting over there instead of here. You’ll need to create an account, but it’s perfectly acceptable to use a pseudonym and post anonymously if you would prefer to do so.
To get the ball rolling I’ve posted my own story. I hope we can continue to grow this community together.

A lot of people have responded with their own personal experiences in the comment sections of the various posts I have made. This is very good, but it’s probably not ideal for people who are coming to this website to look for these stories, because they are scattered all over the place and harder to track. If you wish to post your own story in future, I recommend that you post a comment here.
Just thought I’d mention that I’m still alive and I’m still enjoying the benefits of having a healed anus!
Also probably worth mentioning that a visitor to this blog going by the name MV posted his own fistula experience in the comments section of one of my posts, which some of you may like to read.
Update: Another visitor has posted his story aswell
It’s almost completely healed I gotta tell ya, I didn’t realise it would take this long. The doctor said 4-6 weeks! anyway it’s no problem, life goes on. I’ve now stopped seeing the district nurses, which is good, because that was becoming a pain in the ass.
I see people are finding this site through google etc.. and I just want to invite you anonymous people to ask me questions if you have any. I know from my experience that there isn’t a hell of a lot of information about this shit online. All questions remain anonymous.
Picture of current state here
I went to see the doctor today and he says things are healing well. It’s been a little over a month now and the wound is still open but it’s very shallow now. I’m still driving down to see the district nurses every second day or so. Still working, shitting etc.. with no pain.
Anyway I asked the doctor for a picture he took during surgery and so without further or do… here it is (ultra graphic)
It’s been 3 weeks since the surgery and things are looking good. The wound has been healing well and is now visibly smaller.
Here is a picture
One night it got really itchy and the next day the nurse decided to give me a different type of packing which is a brown colour and sortof disolves in the wound. I swear, 2 days of using this new packing and you can see the improvement.
Apparently this packing contains chemicals somehow related to silver (I didn’t listen very well) and it actively kills the bacteria in the wound…
I am also using a much smaller bandage now, I hardly even notice it.
Anyway I’m pretty happy with the way things are going. Still not in any pain when having a bowel movement or just going about my daily business. It’s a massive giant fucking weight off my shoulders.
Again, if you have a problem down there.. GO TO A DOCTOR!
